On the 17th of August, 2021 the Manchester collective gave a performance of Julius Eastman's The Holy Presence of Joan d'Arc. The original piece by Eastman is for ten Cellos and a significant element of the piece is the physical tension found at the extreme ends of the instrument's range. The Manchester Collective changed the piece to be for a string orchestra and removed this tension.

This is a piece about how to exploit something in a way that doesn't sound shit.
