Over the last year, my father has been pursuing legal action to force my mum to sell our family home or pay a large sum of money (which we cannot afford) in order to allow us to stay.

When I asked my father as to why he is taking such actions, he has chosen to remain silent.

For that reason, I do not know exactly why he has taken such actions. However, as he has found a new life in Australia with his new partner and her family, I have assumed it is for their benefit as well as his own.

​He has emphasised that he does not wish to hurt me and that his actions are entirely separate to my relationship to him, but by proceeding with his actions this would result in one of two options; either my mum and I being made homeless, or I have to end my studies in order to get a full-time job to provide the funds necessary for my mother and I to live.

I can forgive my father for his actions as he is my father, but I cannot forgive a human being willing to hurt their child just to enable himself to have a better life.

I now have to decide who my father, Martin Teplitzky, is to me.
